EIT Urban Mobility Association

Sole shareholder of EIT KIC Urban Mobility Association S.L.U.

The EIT Urban Mobility Association is a nonprofit legal entity established in 2019. Based in Barcelona, it follows the laws of Catalonia. It is the sole shareholder of the for profit company EIT KIC Urban Mobility S.L.U. Its purpose is to strengthen the European knowledge, business and growth position in safeguarding access to mobility and logistics in urban areas in a greener, more inclusive, safer and smarter way, whilst improving the fundamental value of urban areas as places to live, move, meet, experience and work.

The governing bodies of the Association are the General Assembly and the Managing Board. The Managing Board is composed of three Association members. The current members of the Managing Board, elected on 30 May 2023, are:

The Association has a diverse membership profile, ranging across European education, research, business, and cities. Membership in the Association is open to legal entities who are directly or indirectly active in or for the field of urban mobility who support the purposes of the Association. Natural persons cannot be members of the Association.

How to join the EIT Urban Mobility Association

Relevant stakeholders in the field of urban mobility interested in joining the Association to support its purpose can apply to join the Association by writing to the Managing Board at [email protected]. Admission to the Association is discretionary and decided upon by the General Assembly of members of the Association.

History EIT Urban Mobility Association

In December 2018, the European Institute of Innovation and Technology (EIT) designated the consortium called MOBiLus as the winning team to set up the innovation community EIT Urban Mobility. The consortium formalised its legal status as an association, with the MOBiLus partners joining as founding members.

In 2018 the partnership consisted of 48 partners from 15 countries, including cities such as Munich and Milan, universities such as Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya, KTH Royal Institute of Technology in Stockholm, Technion and Aalto University, research centres like Frauenhofer, AMS and CTAG, and industry such as BMW, Siemens and Achmea Insurance.
